Sport Management Program
The demand for sport management professionals continues to grow in the $500 billion annual sport industry. Our program prepares students with practical skills and leadership expertise tailored to the dynamic sport industry.
Through hands-on internship experiences with professional teams, collegiate athletic departments and private sport organizations, graduates gain real-world knowledge that translates directly into many exciting career opportunities in sport management, event coordination, facility operations and beyond.
The curriculum in sport management is designed to prepare students for professional positions in sport. Foundational knowledge in leadership, communication, marketing, ethics, finance, facilities and events provide a comprehensive background for roles in the sport industry.
The advanced degree in Sport Management prepares students for leadership roles in professional sport organizations, college athletic departments and recreational sport organizations.
A sport management minor is an interdisciplinary minor offered to any student and is strongly suggested for individuals who will use principles of sport management in their profession.

The sport industry offers a wide range of dynamic and rewarding career paths for individuals passionate about athletics, recreation and business. The undergraduate degree focuses on an interdisciplinary approach to provide a comprehensive background for roles in sport.
Our program continues to open doors for students that are eager to turn their passion into a career. Students from the program have been selected recently for internship experiences with elite sport organizations such as the Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings and PGA TOUR Champions. Our students are taking their classroom learning and combining it with hands-on experiences from the highest levels of sport to prepare them for the future. These internship experiences allow students to garner hands-on skills and network within these sectors, often leading to full-time employment opportunities.
Recent graduates of the sport management program have landed professional roles among various sport entities throughout the country. Learfield Omaha Sports Properties, USA Wrestling National Team, Kansas City Royals, Minnesota Timberwolves, various college and university athletic departments, and others have employed our students.
