Nutrition and Dietetics (M.S.) Admission
Program Eligibility
- Current undergraduate students at SDSU with a declared major in nutrition and dietetics or any declared major who meet prerequisite and corequisite requirements.
- Minimum of a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Minimum cumulative science GPA of 2.5 on a 3.0 scale. Science courses included in science GPA calculation are CHEM 106 or Higher General Chemistry, CHEM 108 or Higher Biochemistry, BIOL 221 Human Anatomy, BIOL 325 Human Physiology and MICR 231 Microbiology.
- The prerequisite courses must be completed prior to start of the fall semester in the year accepted into the program.
- The corequisite courses must be completed prior to start of the fall semester in the second year of the program.
- Prospective students transferring from an accredited university outside of SDSU must complete a transfer preevaluation form to determine which credits meet the required prerequisite courses. The program is not participating in the DICAS match. All applicants must be enrolled as SDSU students by the spring in which they apply.

Accepted Prior Assessed Learning
Current SDSU students or graduates of SDSU (within the past three years) who have completed the following courses will not be required to complete them again if accepted into the program but will be required to provide evidence of learning in meeting certain competencies as indicated in the prior assessed learning policy. Prior assessed learning is not evaluated prior to or as part of the application process. Prior assessed learning is evaluated after the student is accepted into the program. Prior assessed learning for the following courses will not be considered for the following courses for transfer students but will be considered for current students or graduates of SDSU who have graduated within the past three years.

Not Accepted Prior Assessed Learning
Transfer credits or consideration of prior assessed learning for completion of nutrition and dietetics (M.S.) program competencies will not be accepted for the following list of courses. Students who may have already completed the following courses during prior undergraduate coursework will be required to take these courses again during the semester indicated as part of the plan of study. These courses are not considered for prior assessed learning because they are integrated into the competency-based model with associated experiential learning experiences with practicum courses NUTR 695 or they are part of the graduate plan of study. Completion of these courses at any other nutrition and dietetics (M.S.) program semester other than what is indicated below will not be considered for prior assessed learning of competency completion or transfer credits. There are seven semesters in the nutrition and dietetics (M.S.) program.

- Any 700-level graduate courses that may have been taken prior to acceptance into the nutrition and dietetics (M.S.) program will not be considered as a transfer credit and will not be considered as prior assessed learning for completion of competencies.
