Celebrate chamber music with Imani Winds at SDSU
South Dakota State University’s University Chamber Music Series continues its 2025-26 season with a special performance by the internationally acclaimed wind quintet Imani Winds at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, in the Founders Recital Hall at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.
The concert is free and open to the public, and community members of all ages are encouraged to attend.
Now celebrating over a quarter century of transformative music-making, Imani Winds is one of the most dynamic chamber ensembles on the world stage. Known for its vibrant artistry, Imani Winds has been nominated for multiple Grammy Awards and continues to captivate listeners with a repertoire that bridges the traditional and the contemporary. Their residency is funded by the Patricia Noethe Pierce Visiting Artist program at SDSU.
The Feb. 14 program will feature an eclectic and engaging selection of works, including compositions by Valerie Coleman, Paquito D’Rivera, Stevie Wonder and Simon Shaheen, among others. This repertoire showcases the ensemble’s versatility and commitment to presenting music that spans genres, cultures and eras.
“Our University Chamber Music Series brings world-class performances to Brookings, and Imani Winds exemplifies the power of chamber music to connect and uplift communities,” said Michael Walsh, SDSU chamber music coordinator. “We are thrilled to offer this concert free to the public and look forward to a memorable evening.”
The University Chamber Music Series at SDSU offers a varied lineup of performances throughout the academic year, presenting distinguished artists in an intimate recital setting that highlights the beauty and subtlety of chamber music.
