South Dakota State University’s School of Performing Arts invites the public to an engaging evening of French flute music at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26. The concert will take place in Founders Recital Hall at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center on the SDSU campus.

The performance will feature Elizabeth Robinson, assistant professor of music, alongside SDSU alumnus Carson Covey, presenting a thoughtfully curated program that highlights both beloved classics and innovative works from the flute repertoire.

Audience members will enjoy music by renowned French composers Gabriel Fauré and François Devienne, as well as a touch of French influence in Theobald Boehm’s romantic showpiece, “Grand Polonaise in D.” The program also bridges old and new through American composer Eve Beglarian’s work, which juxtaposes medieval music by Guillaume de Machaut with modern electronic elements.

This recital offers the listener an exploration of French musical style across centuries, showcasing expressive lyricism, technical brilliance and contemporary creativity.

The event is free, and the public is invited to attend. For more information, please contact the School of Performing Arts at 605-688-5187.
