Dairy Cattle Judging
2025
The SDSU Dairy Cattle Judging team competed in the Southwest Dairy Cattle Judging Contest in Fort Worth, Texas, on Jan. 19, 2025. The team consisted of Paige Hopf, Vanessa Gonzalez, Dillion Sparrgrove, Evelyn Scheffler and coach Turner Swartz. They placed second in Holstein, fourth in Jersey, fifth in reasons and fourth place overall.
The SDSU Dairy Cattle Judging team traveled also to Canyon, Texas, on April 11, 2025 for the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture Judging Conference. The team placed first overall. Evelyn Scheffler was high individual overall. Vanessa Gonzalez placed first in reasons and third overall. Dillion Sparrgrove placed 10th overall.
2024
The SDSU Dairy Cattle Judging team traveled to the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin, for the Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest on Sept. 29, 2024. The team consisted of Wyatt Zehr, Briana Maus, Allison Wright, Makenna Skiff and coach Turner Swartz. The team was successful in placing as a team and as individuals. They placed 13th overall, sixth for Guernsey, and ninth for both Ayrshire and Milking Shorthorn. For individuals, Allison Wright placed eighth in Guernsey.
The SDSU Dairy Cattle Judging Team wrapped up their fall season with a 10th overall placing at the North American International Livestock Exhibition (NAILE) in Louisville, Kentucky. Briana Maus, Allison Wright, and Makenna Skiff represented the team in Louisville. For individuals, Makenna Skiff for placed second for the Holstein breed class, securing the team for fifth in Holstein.
