Groups identified in this category fall under the authority of an academic department at SDSU and are not official registered student organizations. Due to their activities and priorities, these groups broadly represent the teaching, research or service component of South Dakota State University’s mission. These groups follow the naming standards applicable to RSOs but must use the SD logo lockup.

• University Marketing and Communications must be notified by the academic department of the establishment or discontinuance of an Academic Department Sponsored Organization.
• SDSU Academic Department Sponsored Organizations must follow applicable communications standards when speaking on behalf of South Dakota State University or independently.
• SD logo lockups must be created and provided by UMC.
• If these groups must include an outside organization’s name, logo or insignia, a cobrand or sponsorship solution may be developed and use must be preapproved by the university president, via the process managed by UMC.
• The group must follow all SDSU Graphic Identity Standards.
